Why students choose Türkiye

Recognised degrees, English-taught programmes and a lower cost of living — and what daily life looks like.

01

Recognised degrees

Türkiye has been part of the Bologna process since 2001. Credits follow ECTS, so you can continue studying in other countries and your diploma is easier to have recognised. A growing number of programmes — engineering, medicine, business, the humanities — are taught in English.

02

Housing

Almost every university can offer some form of accommodation, from campus dormitories to partner residences. In big cities many students share a flat instead. Your advisor shows you the options near your campus before you arrive.

03

Getting around

Public transport is extensive and cheap. In Istanbul you move between metro, tram, bus, ferry and suburban trains with one card, and students with a valid student ID pay a reduced fare.

04

Daily life

Living costs are well below most of Western Europe, and cities like Istanbul and Ankara have large international student communities. Learning some Turkish helps — most universities offer free or low-cost courses.
